That's disgustin!

Grandma Eva gave us a beautiful pumpkin while we were at her house last weekend.

She had quite a few on her porch and because Christopher was screaming "I don't want to go home!!!" (at the top of his lungs) she was generous enough to let him and his cousins pick one out. On the way home he dropped it in the car and the stem broke clean off. For days this thing has been oozing pumpkin juice all over the place. The only thing left to do - CARVE IT UP!!

I turned on some Christmas music (What! I like Christmas music!) and carved a hole in the top.

I gave Christopher a big spoon and let him go at it.

Unfortunately, the spoon wasn't working too well, so I suggested he use his hands.

Well, you remember this post, right? He stuck his hand in that pumpkin, screamed, and declared "Dats disgustin!!"

So, my hands got pretty messy. I don't mind though. There is nothing like the smell of pumpkin innards. Mmmm.

I carved a very boring, typical pumpkin and told Christopher to make a scary face next to it.

We then, of course, had to try it out in the dark.

Oooooo! Pretty scary huh?

I think I (I mean WE) did a pretty good job.

We haven't heard from him in awhile . . . .

"Parents are not interested in justice, they're interested in peace and quiet."

I completely agree, Bill.

How I love those quiet moments.

The moments with no fighting over toys,
no yelling "He touched me!",
no talking - period.

Awwwww.

What were your quiet moments this week?

We have returned . . . .

We spent a great weekend at Davin's parents' house this weekend.

Christopher got a haircut

and hugs and kisses from grandma.

He also helped Grandpa with some yard work.

Too fun!

Since crawling has become his new thing,

this is about the only picture I got of the little guy.

Dav and I got to go the BYU/TCU game.

It was a dissapointing, "What are you guys doing!" kind of a game,

but I loved having some time with my Davin.

They spoiled us with good food and relaxation.

Thanks for everything! We had a great time.

Oh happy day!

is one happy boy.

After his terrible teething, sickness, and just plain misery, he has learned how to crawl.

I never thought I would be so happy to see one of my children moving and getting into trouble :)

Yep,

I started another blog today.
I know. I know.
MORE of me!
However, I have been wanting to start one of these up for awhile now. It's a picture a day blog, an "I saw today" blog.
A picture a day from me and how I see my world :)
Enjoy.

What's next?

This Idaho weather has been playing tricks on us again.

The snow last week,

now the weekend was a beautiful 70 degrees.

This morning we have this

Wonder what's coming next?

To my mommy . . . .

Happy Birthday

to my wonderful, kind, beautiful, talented, wise, understanding, compassionate, generous, lovely mother.

I love you very much!

Be very very quiet . . . .

Shhhhh!

I am hunting the elusive . . . . .

Christopher

This creature shirks having its' picture taken with great skill and at any cost.

It sprinkles dirt on its' head

(to throw us off his clean boy smell, I suppose).

It grabs the camera and lets out ferocious growls.

It shuts its' eyes tight.

If it can't see you, you can't see it.

And, it will look anywhere and everywhere but the lens.

Years and years of trying to capture the perfect smiling boy picture!

The hunt goes on!

It's a bird, it's a plane! No, it's . . . . .

I have a magical super power.
The power to love someone completely.

This boy is a complicated kiddo.

He is in love with his mom to the point that I can't take one step away from him without hearing shrieking. He is good at the grumpy face. He wants what HE wants when HE wants it.

However, I have a special power.
The power to adore this little human being even if he is a little challenging.
The power to know that he has a tender heart and likes to laugh.
Just another reason I love being a mom.

What are your super powers?

Already?

Garlicks,

Welcome back!

Welcome back
dustings of white,

excited boy footprints,

flakes on the tongue,

and warm winter coats.

Welcome back to Eastern Idaho!

Memory

Have you ever had "smell memories?"

It has turned cold here in Idaho and with the cold comes the heaters. In our new house we have separate heaters for each room. Kind of like base board heaters, but no baseboard :) When you first turn on the heaters you get kind of a burning smell. Know what I mean? It immediately sent me back to one of our first apartments

(Madison Park Apartments , for all you Madison Park friends :)) while we were at school. I have such dear memories of that place.

Subsidized,
70's,
couldn't open the oven and the dishwasher at the same time (crash),
and baseboard heaters.

Those baseboard heaters had the same smell as our new heaters.
Oh, how wonderful is that smell.

That aroma means new baby,

humble beginnings,

first steps,

the parks nearby,

simple happy times.

What are your "smell memories?"
