Memory

Have you ever had "smell memories?"

It has turned cold here in Idaho and with the cold comes the heaters. In our new house we have separate heaters for each room. Kind of like base board heaters, but no baseboard :) When you first turn on the heaters you get kind of a burning smell. Know what I mean? It immediately sent me back to one of our first apartments

(Madison Park Apartments , for all you Madison Park friends :)) while we were at school. I have such dear memories of that place.

Subsidized,
70's,
couldn't open the oven and the dishwasher at the same time (crash),
and baseboard heaters.

Those baseboard heaters had the same smell as our new heaters.
Oh, how wonderful is that smell.

That aroma means new baby,

humble beginnings,

first steps,

the parks nearby,

simple happy times.

What are your "smell memories?"

The smells of popcorn, hay fields and rain all evoke some awesome memories for me - way too many to write in a comment. But thanks for helping me remember.

You're forgetting the lovely fairgrounds aroma when we would take our babies walking every morning. And the smell of the park-- wet grass? winter? I can't really remember. But I do remember how great it was to have a walking buddy, and that my friend, I have missed a lot over the past 4 years!

It's crazy to see those pics of Christopher-because I remember hanging out with you guys after he was born. Now I have a baby, and you have 2 and you have moved about a million times since then. It's crazy how fast time goes and how much it changes in such a short amount of time.

I seriously love your blog. I have smell memories of bacon at my grandma's house in Moore. I used to wake up to it when we went to visit. Ahhhh.
