My son is very much a clean freak. Strange for a 3 1/2 year old. He cried for 15 minutes the other day because he caught a glimpse of his macaroni and cheese mustache in the mirror.
The horror.
The horror. You'd think as a mom I would be pleased. However, I think I would much rather clean up a few messy hands than hear the crying over spilled milk (literally). So, I've had to take action. It's called :
Operation - Help my little boy learn that a little mess is okay sometimes and that it can even be fun in some situations.
I've been trying to set up activities where it is okay to get messy.
Yesterday it was paper mache.
Things started out rough in the beginning.
The mess was just too overwhelming.
But, after some time . . . . . he really got into it
(as you can see).
We made a volcano
and a dinosaur.
He painted his dino and his volcano

then I said "Alright, it's time for our volcano to errupt!"
He got a little worried,

but by the end he was all smiles.
I think

You are so creative with your boys. You are always doing fun activitie - good for you! That is hilarious he is a clean freak, I would love it (because I am one too) but I'm sure the crying gets a little old.
What a great idea. Danna would love paper mache but do you think it'd work with a one year old? We may wait on this one :)
I love that you blog about these things! Seriously, LOVE IT!
My girls are only neat freaks about their faces-- thank goodness because I vowed before I had kids to never have the messy kid, or the sticky kid. I wondered one day how they got this way, and then I caught myself wiping Carlie's mouth 6 times in one feeding. Mystery solved.
I am amazed at all the fun activities you do with Chris! You are the best mommy ever- Seriously, you appear to have it all together :) I am extremely impressed and in awe- I want to be you :)
I absolutely LOVE the picture of him in his little boy underwear with his hands all wet, crying. Oh, the pain.
