Our house is bursting with anticipation.
We actively participate in this sport in the spring and summer, but I officially declared it open again . . . . in the dead of winter . . . . because a certain little boy would NOT stop asking.
So, like any good mother, I bundled all of us up, trudged through the snow, slid across frozen puddles, ignored the "What are you doing out here?" looks to dig some rocks out of the snow.
If you are unfamiliar with the exhilarating sport of Rock Hunting, let me inform you -
Step 1: Let the child pick "pretty" rocks out of the mud and bring them in your house.
Step 2: Wash them off and decide who or what they look like.

Step 3: Let Mommy paint them while the child watches over your shoulder asking when it is going to be done.
This time the boy decided that they looked like Russell and Mr. Frederickson from Disney's UP.

Big surprise there :)

He loves those rocks and carries them everywhere (even to a baby's doctor's appointment, asking the doctor if she could give his toy rocks a shot. Oh boy. Now she probably thinks of me as the crazy rock mom)
It's no surprise that he loves his toy rocks though. As a child I would nurture anything I could get my hands on. I still remember when Pet Rocks came to the mall.

I wanted one.
Yaaaa.
You can check back in for more Rock Hunting adventures later.
If you're nice.

Wow, You are a woman of many talents!! Those rocks looked great when you finished them! You are such a great mom, your boys are sure lucky!!
Holy cow - you painted those soooo well!! How cute!
very cute--the problem would be the patience of my children while I was painting. And then they'd probably throw them at each other. You did a fantastic job on the painting of those rocks by the way. impressive.
Um, yeah, I'D want to go rock hunting if you painted my rocks all cute like that afterward! Should I just send them to you or what? ;)
Seriously, you officially win the coolest mom award.
Don't tell Ali that the season is open yet, I'm not ready. And don't show her how incredible those rock paintings are, my stick figures would really seem awful after that.
You are a crazy rock mom (that comment made me laugh)!! And again I am impressed by your amazing talents and a little discouraged that I wasn't blessed with your wonderful ability to take something so simple (rocks, salvation army junk) and make it into something amazing. Luv ya lots my talented friend!
Oh, yea. I want some rocks painted by you. How fun is that! Chris knows exactly what he's got.
impressed with your painting skills
Seriously, they ROCK (pun intended)! I love them! What a great idea! Can't wait to catch up on Sunday.
That is so cool. You paint rocks. Much better than a dumb plastic toy from China!
