Take a journey with me

If you know anything about me, you know that my thoughts are random and unpredictable. Today my thoughts have drifted towards my age and my feeling of oldness. Not because I am old or even "mature", but because I am becoming a grumpy old person way before my time. I find myself using phrases such as "Those darn kids these days!" or "What in tarnation is that music!" I honestly don't understand the texting thing and I have no idea what kind of music is popular right now. So, I've decided to take you back to a time of beautiful neon colors, scrunchies, jelly shoes, Madonna, headbands, high tops, and white wash. Yes, we are going somewhere I feel safe. We are going:

Welcome back! Let's explore!

Our first area is Here is a picture of me ROLLER SKATING! (another fun activity in the 80s!) Notice the Hammer pants. I begged my mom to make me these. I asked for them to be a SIMPLE turquoise fabric. I didn't want to get too CRAZY :).

Here are some other interesting outfits. (My dear cousin, please forgive me for the pictures I am about to present.) My cousin and I loved to wear matching clothes. Notice the cute pleather mini skirts, and the vests (along with roller skating OF COURSE!) Then we have this little number from tap class. I'm not sure whether this is inspired by Madonna or Michael Jackson but it is STUNNING! I have other dance pictures but I've suffered enough humiliation for one post.

Then there is the
(I promise I don't know these people)

I personally loved the crimped look. I think it literally took my mom hours to do. So sorry. And of course, the bangs are prevalent in every picture. I'm surprised we aren't all dead from all the hairspray. Again, a matching outfit. My cousin must have been smarter than the 80s with her normal hair. Good job cuz!

Now lets move on to another area which could also be categorized in the clothing department I feel it needs a category all to itself. Can you imagine preteen girls wanting to wear something like this these days! I loved them though. I thought I looked great and maybe I did back then! Maybe I should give the floofy dress look another try :)

Now, who can forget neon!
It's kinda hard. Once viewing these colors they are burned into your BRAIN!
I loved this picture. I felt like I was on the set of Saved By the Bell. Make way! I'm Kelly today!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed this little journey with me. Doesn't it just warm your little 80s heart. Sigh. Those darn kids these days. They don't know what they are missing.

I love the 80s! When I visit I can teach you about the texting. It's very simple, mom. :) However, I also do not really know what music is popular right now. I'm much more of an iPod girl than a radio girl. And when I am a radio girl, I find myself listening to the stations my dad would listen to. :)

You totally crack me up! I don't know whether to feel pride or embarrassment that I KNOW exactly what you're talking about in all those categories. Tonight, I'll go with pride. :) I used to think my mom would make me look stupid if she picked out my clothes... but now I'm not so sure my choices were "better." Oh dear... here's to some Aquanet!

Holy cow, those pictures are so old!! I started to crack up laughing out loud. What were we thinking with some of our outfits? We sure loved to dress the same. Thanks for taking me back in time...
