Memories

I love HGTV.

It's definitely my favorite channel.

I don't love it so much at 3:00 in the morning with a sick baby, which was last night.

However, at 3:00 in the morning on HGTV they showed a house in our old neighborhood in Oregon.

A house I must have passed a thousand times.

Maybe it was because it was 3:00 in the morning, or because I was REALLY tired, or because I was just as irritable as the baby, but I was suddenly missing Oregon terribly.

I missed those tree lined streets -

so completely gorgeous in the fall.

I missed the beauty blooming EVERYWHERE.

I missed those trips to the beaches.

I missed our walks and all our little finds.

I missed the rain.

All the lovely rain that came and came, sometimes everyday for weeks.

Sigh.

After countless moves and transplanting ourselves into new places we have definitely learned that anywhere can be home if you make it home.

Blackfoot is no exception. It is definitely becoming our home and we love it here.

But, I will always have a special place in my heart for beautiful, green Oregon and the memories created there.

What places or things do you miss??

Things We Love Lately . . .

There are a lot of things we love lately about this little guy.

He's getting so big.

I have to keep reminding myself that he isn't that little baby that we brought home from the hospital.
We love that he is getting big though and by big I mean BIG. 100% for height, 100% weight, and his head size . . . off the charts. Poor guy.

He just needs a big head to fit his big brain in. This kid floors me with the stuff he knows and does. He tells me when he wants to go to bed. He gets his bottle, hands it to me and says "Night night." What?? How could this be? It's heaven.

We love that Andy follows Big Brother everywhere.

So cute.

Davin and I love this show.

Oh my heavens!

It was a miniseries put out in the late 80s that apparently was very popular. We have been recording and watching the reruns. Weirdest, most fascinating show I have ever seen!

I love that I have something new and exciting in the works! Yippee!

What do you love lately?

It has been declared

Our house is bursting with anticipation.
Rock Hunting Season has opened!
What??
Aren't you excited?

We actively participate in this sport in the spring and summer, but I officially declared it open again . . . . in the dead of winter . . . . because a certain little boy would NOT stop asking.

So, like any good mother, I bundled all of us up, trudged through the snow, slid across frozen puddles, ignored the "What are you doing out here?" looks to dig some rocks out of the snow.

If you are unfamiliar with the exhilarating sport of Rock Hunting, let me inform you -
Step 1: Let the child pick "pretty" rocks out of the mud and bring them in your house.
Step 2: Wash them off and decide who or what they look like.

Step 3: Let Mommy paint them while the child watches over your shoulder asking when it is going to be done.

This time the boy decided that they looked like Russell and Mr. Frederickson from Disney's UP.

Big surprise there :)

He loves those rocks and carries them everywhere (even to a baby's doctor's appointment, asking the doctor if she could give his toy rocks a shot. Oh boy. Now she probably thinks of me as the crazy rock mom)

It's no surprise that he loves his toy rocks though. As a child I would nurture anything I could get my hands on. I still remember when Pet Rocks came to the mall.

I wanted one.

Yaaaa.

You can check back in for more Rock Hunting adventures later.
If you're nice.

One year old . . . .

Happy 1st Birthday to our sweet, little Andy!

We love this little man so much!

He had a great birthday party a couple days ago at Great Grandma's with all the family.

He kept his usual serious face

through it all with a little dancing here and there :)

He loved his new toys (thank you EVERYONE!)

and seemed okay with all of brother's help.

Happy Birthday Andy!!

I Think My Family Is Embarrassed By Me Post . .

I bought some more junk the other day . . . .

and I had SO much fun.

My wonderful grandma gave me some money for my birthday and as soon as I saw it I knew I would be taking it to the Thrift Store.
She would have probably snatched it out of my hands if I had told her that.

I wanted to make my entry way look halfway decent, since it is the first thing people see when they come in my house!

I came home with an armload of "treasures"

Remember the cool tree frame from this post?

Well, I found her little sister!!!

Who knew there was another one of these ugly things lying around? (I do agree with the words printed on it - Just not in a puke green)
I was so excited in the store when I found her I think the cute, trendy lady next to me honestly ran away.

Just look how pretty she turned out!

Take that cute, trendy lady!

I washed out the dusty, interesting vase and put the interesting plant in. Voila!

I kinda like it!

I painted the green, wooden platter a ruby red.

Oh, I am so in love with it!

I placed the wooden pear on the candle holder . . .

Loveliness.

And, the mirror.

Don't get me started on my love for this mirror.

All in all, I think it turned out great (at least in my little design world :) ).

There is just something about going into a creepy, dark thrift store with its' random unwanted items, and finding diamonds in the rough.

Okay.

I'm done creeping you out.

Be brave.

Head over to your "I don't think I can go in there" thrift store today.

Things We Love Lately

I love that my boys are getting along lately . . . . . . most days

They scream at each other in the tub

(it's apparently very funny to two little boys)

The Big Brother likes to wash Little Brother's hair.

Andy can climb the stairs now.

Christopher loves that he has a playmate to join him in his room.

I do not love that Andy screams when he is ready to be carried down the stairs

(can't quite figure out how to get down)

I love when the guys hang out together and play with cars :)

I love her.

Well, maybe not HER, but her show.
Divine Design.
Obsessed.

I love how creative and imaginative he is lately.

His favorite show right now is Disney's UP.

He attached some fake balloons to his playground toy and flies that thing around the house as he watches the movie and acts it out . . . . in his underwear.

Guess it helps him feel free to create??
