Things I Loved This Week . . . . .

I loved that this boy fell asleep on the floor right before dinner. Dav and I had dinner all to ourselves. Yay for a date night! :)

I love that we made "homemade" cupcakes.

I even let Christopher put them in the oven.

I love that every bed time he has to line up all these things in order to feel "ready" to go to sleep. We have tried all his life to break him of this habit.

We have given up.

I love blowing bubbles

I love that he fell asleep on my shoulder.

I love that they love each other

even if things get a little out of control.

Warning : May Cause Kink

Here are some random videos that I have been meaning to post for the Grandparents (and anyone else who likes my children ;) )

The days when Andy is teething, the ONLY person who can make him smile or laugh is big brother. (I know that plastic bags and children don't mix. They were highly supervised during the making of this video :) )

Baby is sitting up. Yay!

(I have no idea why this video is sideways but I CANNOT fix it. So, if you get a kink in your neck - my apologies.)

Phew . .

I did it.
I got new glasses.
I didn't think I would make it through it, but I did.
Let me explain. . . .

The following is a true story . . . .

Being new to an area, a city, a STATE, it can be hard to pick a doctor. So, when I walked into my eye doctor and felt the soft shag carpet beneath my feet

I knew I could be in trouble.

They were very nice people and I (hopefully) got the right prescription. When I went into the waiting room to try on some glasses SHE was waiting for me.

Nice Lady: "I can help you pick out some frames. I am extremely blunt and will give you the BEST opinion."

Me: "Oh, uh, oh, um, ya, uh, okay . . . . . "

Now, why did I hesitate? Why did I stumble over my words?

This is why - This is what she was wearing.

And she was going to help me pick out my glasses?

The first one she picked out for me were something like this -

I love vintage okay, but NOT the right look for me.

The next -

"Nicole Richie has ones like these!" Again, what? NOT for me.

The last ones were like these -

Love pink. Don't love pink taking over my face.

So, in the end she gave up and left me alone. I picked some very boring, plain, brown glasses and I could tell with her "Ya, those look fine." that they did look fine and maybe even yawn worthy.

Just what I needed.

It's Simple Really

We are a simple people.

We enjoy simple pleasures.

Like the pleasure of spending July 4th together.

The pleasure of cheap fans

(our 4th was a scorcher! 96 degrees and no air conditioning!)

The pleasure of taking at least 3, toy filled baths in a day to cool off.

The pleasure of watermelon!

And, ice cream.

The pleasure of our own $5 fireworks show.

The sparklers,

the snaps,

the pleasure (and anticipation)

of seeing the big firework labeled "Purple Pearls"

without a smidgen of purple in it,

but enjoying it anyways.

The pleasure of NOT burning down our tree

with this one.

The pleasure of knowing that this one slept comfortably??

through the whole thing.

God Bless America and the simple pleasures we enjoy!

I Love You - USA

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From every mountainside
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our father's God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom's holy light,
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God our King.

Someone's weeds are someone else's flowers

So, on this show

(which I personally have a hard time sitting through - VERY ANNOYING)

my son learned about flowers and weeds. He liked the idea of looking for weeds on our walk the other day.

"You mean flowers?" I asked.
"Noooo Mommy. I want to find weeds."

Uh . . . . okay? Let's go find some weeds! Yay?
Well, these are the weeds he found.

I have to say, our neighbors have no idea how pretty their weeds are.

P.S. If any of you know that these are NOT weeds don't crush our little dream of finding pretty weeds. I'm no plant expert.

Ugh . . . . . .

Apparently, peaches are disgusting.

(please forgive the complaining child in the background and the poor camera skills. You try operating a camera and feeding a baby at the same time!)
